Head and shoulder fragment

This is a fragment of the head and shoulders of a statue of a man wearing a cloak. The face and top of head are missing. The figure has large ears and wears a bag wig. The cloak has incised decoration of a necklace or broadcollar on the chest. There are traces of black and red pigment.


From Nubia (Sudan), Kerma, K III 2(2). 1913: Excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Sudan.
