Globular jar

This globular, nearly bag-shaped redware jar has a rounded base, very gradual neck, and outwardly rolled rim. The point of inflection in the neck wash fashioned in such a way as to leave a recessed line. The jar was broken into many fragments but has been mended. Some pieces are still missing.

From Kerma, Cemetery S, grave 1803. 1914: excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan. (Accession date: July 11, 2006)
