Fragment of Meroitic stele

This is a gray granodiorite stele fragment with four complete and one partial horizontal lines of incised Meroitic script seperated by incised register lines. Style B. Line width is 3.2 cm.


From Nubia (Sudan) Gebel Barkal, B551, III(3) "W" of third "N" area in sand above floor. 1919: excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Sudan.
