Fragment of Meroitic stele

This is a gray granodiorite stele fragment with two horizontal lines of incised Meroitic script seperated by incised register lines. There is a slight curving out at the base. Line width is 3.0 - 3.5 cm.

Provenance

From Nubia (Sudan) Gebel Barkal, B551 III(3) "W" of third N area in sand just above floor. 1919: excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA by the government of Sudan.
