Decorated jar

Large globular jar with a small neck and mouth (plain rim). Red burnished, and decorated below the neck with four frogs with long tongues which turn into ankhs at the ends. One small fragment missing from the body.


From Aniba, tomb G 150. 1908: excavated by the E.B. Coxe Expedition of the University of Pennsylvania; assigned to the University of Pennsylvania in the division of finds by the Sudanese government; 1908-1991: University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology; 1991: received by the MFA through exchange with the University of Pennsylvania Museum. (Accession date: March 25, 1992)
