Body of a red polished bottle

This is the majority of a bottle fashioned of a reddish clay fabric (fired black in some areas) and treated with a burnished/polished red slip. The neck and rim are broken off and missing. The body has squat, bag-shaped proportions with a sharp point of inflection and gradual, rounded base.


From Nuri, Pyramid 12 (tomb of Irike-Amanote), Room A(?). Excavated by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of the Sudan. (Accession Date: September 8, 2006)
