Amulet of Nefertum

The Memphite god Nefertum was associated with the myth of creation, in which the newborn sun god emerged from a blue lotus. Nefertum is shown in human form wearing a short kilt, lappet wig amf headdress in the form of a lotus. This amulet, which shows the god standing, is broken off at knees.


From Giza, in debris on top of mastaba G 7775. 1928: excavated by the Harvard University–Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned to the MFA in the division of finds by the government of Egypt. (Accession date: January 20, 2005)
