"REVERE" within a rectangle is stamped on the inside of tongs. Reserve is ragged underneath "EVE", leaving the letters "R" and final "E" more prominent.

Provenance

James Dunbar, m. Sarah Templeton, March 27, 1792; by 1920 their great-granddaughter, Eleanora Curtis, from whom the piece was bought by the collector Pauline Revere Thayer, who gave it to the Museum in 1935.
