Provenance

With Alphonse Jax, New York, before April 14, 1975; sold to Landon Clay, April 14, 1975; loan to the MFA August 5, 1975, and given in 2001. The donor recalls that this object was part of a group of Spanish colonial silver acquired by him before 1968 from Ed Merrin on behalf of a dealer in Montevideo, Uruguay; lent to the Museum since August 5, 1975, until its gift in 2001.
