Snuff box

Elliptical snuffbox has a gilded interior and five-part hinge. Made from sheet silver, the lid is slightly domed, with shallow friction-fitted sides that conform to taller sides of base. Both lid and base are finished at the edge with a small applied, convex molding.

Inscription

Underneath snuffbox, "M * Moulton" is engraved in shaded uppercase first initials, and in lower case script.

Marks

The roman letters "F [pellet] N" within a rectangle are stamped inside base of snuffbox at center.
