Slightly everted narrow rim, vurving sides, trace of a step, domed bottom. Center point in bowl. Trefoil handle affixed with bar, incised lines accentuate scrolls of heart tip and rounded sides. Small triangular cuttings above plate with initials.

Engraved NG on top of handle away from bowl. B/EM beneath handle

ID with fleur-de-lis below in heart-shaped punch overstambed at right of handle on body

Provenance

Buhler Catalogue: Probably Abigail Gardner, spinster; her sister's son Ebenezer Bowditch (1702/3-1768), m. Mary Turner (1706-1785) in 1728; descended in family to Mrs. Henry Ingersoll Bowditch, from whom it was bought in April 1955 for $500.
