This shallow bowl has an applied band at the edge of the raised rim. The bottom has an eight-petaled flower design in negative, created by chased floral decorations; the edge of the rim is encircled by an engraved leafy vine.

“STERLING” struck on bottom; “Stone” incised, with profile of chasing hammer struck incuse across St, on bottom.

Provenance

Arthur and Elizabeth Bent Stone estate to their companion Annie E. Priest; by descent to Alma Bent, Stone’s cousin, from whom the Museum purchased the piece.
