Long spike or fid with tapered shaft, and rounded handle embellished with two circular incised lines; modern rawhide thong threaded through opening in handle; white surface with dark striations and cracks.

Provenance

Owned originally by Daniel Irwin (b. 1836) of Newburgh, New York; descended in the family to his grandson, and thence by inheritance to his wife, the donor, in 1978.
