Ladle

Start collecting

The ladle has a large scallop-shaped bowl with multiple squared drops on the back and extends to a long downturned handle with rounded tip. Feather-edge decoration is engraved along the perimeter of the handle. Poor repairs have been made around the squared drop.

Inscription

In sprigged script, engraved "SN Howard"along length of handle near tip.

Marks

Marked "[pellet] REVERE" on back of handle.

Provenance

Aside from a conjectural attribution to Capt. Samuel Howard, caulker of Boston, nothing is known of the ladle before it was made a gift to the Museum in 1991.
