The ladle has a large scallop-shaped bowl with multiple squared drops on the back and extends to a long downturned handle with rounded tip. Feather-edge decoration is engraved along the perimeter of the handle. Poor repairs have been made around the squared drop.
In sprigged script, engraved "SN Howard"along length of handle near tip.
Marked "[pellet] REVERE" on back of handle.
Aside from a conjectural attribution to Capt. Samuel Howard, caulker of Boston, nothing is known of the ladle before it was made a gift to the Museum in 1991.
Gift of Elizabeth D. Geier and Thomas N. Dabney
