Large ladle with round bowl and large, broad drop extends to rounded, downturned handle tip. Undecorated save for owner's initials.

Inscription

Enwined initials"SOE" engraved in sprigged script on front of handle, and "MT / 1920" in similar but later style on back of handle.

Marks

On back of handle, marked "C [pellet] DUNN" and "N. YORK" in roman letters within a rectangle.

Provenance

Early history unknown. Lent by by Mrs. Hale Sutherland to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, in 1930, and transferred in 1958 to the donor, Miss Mary Flint Sutherland.
