European-made sword or knife blade with Algonkian wooden handle, carved with a narrow band of zigzag, outlined, under a knop end.

Provenance

According to unverified tradition supplied by the dealer, William Taylor of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, this belonged to Alderman, a Native American of the late seventeenth century from Rhode Island, and descended in his family. Purchased by the Museum in 1983.
