Human effigy head

Start collecting

Solid, hand-modeled human head broken from a figurine. Traces of orange pigment on the face, especially on the proper lower left cheek, and traces of red pigment in the mouth and on the proper left ear. Pupils and nostrils were made by deep punctates.

Margret Craver Withers collection (acquired in Mexico and Guatemala) by 1972; to MFA, November 1993, gift of Margret Craver Withers.
