Human effigy head

Start collecting

Human head broken from a large, slab figurine. The mouth, pupils and ears are indicated by wide, punctate-incised lines. A lock of hair on top of the head is rendered by a flattened coil of clay incised with three wide, vertical lines.

Margret Craver Withers collection (acquired in Mexico and Guatemala) by 1972; to MFA, November 1993, gift of Margret Craver Withers.
