Hair comb

Hair comb of flattened sheet brass, 1/16 inch thick, cut with eight tines for more than half its length, above a spool-shaped handle, topped with abstract addorsed animal head motif.

Provenance

According to unverified tradition supplied by the dealer, William Taylor of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, this belonged to Alderman, a Native American of the late seventeenth century in Rhode Island, and descended in his family. To MFA January 12, 1983, purchased.
