This pair of couches (1977.726-727) descended in the family of Nathan Appleton, who had used them in his home at 39 Beacon Street in Boston; by 1977, owned by Mrs. Trenche Coxe of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 1977, on consignment to Robert Trump Antiques, Flourtown, Pennsylvania; 1977, purchased by the MFA (November 1977).
