Double crocodile-shaman effigy pendant

Start collecting

Double flange, cast gold pendant rendering two male human figures with crocodile-like heads. A twisted rope in the form of serpents unite the figures. A triple-strand ring on each one's nose/snout allowed for the suspension of some kind of small adornment (no longer present).

Provenance

With Walter Channing Wyman, Chicago(?), by 1922; to MFA, February 1922, purchased as part of a group of 67 pieces for $5,000.
