Made for (1) Elizabeth Smith (1726-1786); by descent to her great-niece Elizabeth H Smith (1843-1911); 1910, lent by Miss Smith to the MFA; 1911, transfered to her great neices Rose and elizabeth Townsend; 1956, gift of Misses Townsend to the MFA. (Accession date: Oct 11 1956) 1: The initials are for the granddaughter of the goldsmith, Elizabeth Storer (1726-1786), m. Isaac Smith; the date, the birth of their sixth child (and third of the name) Elizabeth (1770-1849), who married but died without issue.
