Rectangular folding top with canted corners of crotch veneer, swivels over compartment lined in red velvet. Support of carved eagle on brass banded glove with outspread wings facing right. Four splayed legs with acanthus carving end in wooden claw feet; carved lion's head between front legs.


Owned by the Demarest family, branches of which were in Hackensack and New Brunswick, N.J., and White Plains, N.Y.; by 1957, with Israel Sack, Inc., New York; 1958, purchased by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
