The vase has a small circular base that rises to a knob from which the vessel flares upward and outward, like a trumpet. Three divisions of leafy chased decoration embellish the sides.

“Stone,” with profile of incuse chasing hammer across St, and “STERLING,” both double struck on bottom.

Provenance

Arthur and Elizabeth Bent Stone estate to their companion Annie E. Priest; by descent to Alma Bent, Stone’s cousin, from whom the Museum purchased the piece.
