Bat-shaman effigy pendant

Start collecting

Open-backed cast gold pendant depicting a bat-shaman male figure. He grasps a serpent-like form that arches over his head. A vertical suspension ring at the back of the neck allows for suspension.


Descended in the Coolidge Family, Massachusetts; to Catherine Coolidge Lastavica in 1958; lent to MFA January 11, 1983; to MFA, December 1985, gift of Catherine Coolidge Lastavica.
